I’ve never been one to do any New Year’s resolutions before – in fact I’ve never done any! I felt like they were probably pointless and unrealistic, hence I’d last a week, like the stereotype goes. However, this year is different. 2019 for me had a lot to do with learning healthy habits and not criticizing myself so hard (as a lot of us do). This year I have set some realistic and manageable goals for myself and I thought I’d share with all of you!

1. SKIN

I don’t want to rely on something like birth control for nice clear skin and I’m human so I can’t help but be bothered by any acne flare ups. In 2020 I want to find what works for me: my skin type, my routine, my budget, me me me.

2. CONSISTENCY

Although extremely general, this is going to be my word of the year this year! There are a few things that I want to be consistent with. The first of them is going to the gym regularly. If you’ve seen any of my other blogs you might have seen that I struggle with weight gain whenever I’m living abroad. Both in Spain and Serbia I gained the same amount of unhealthy weight, about 20-30 pounds. It was excessive and I was lazy with my habits. I started working out again in September of 2019 and although I haven’t lost it all, I am already feeling so much happier and healthier! It feels good to be strong. My goal isn’t to be really skinny – my goal is to just go 3-4 times a week and to make a conscious effort to keep my weight in a healthy fluctuation.

The next place of consistency is for here, my website! Overall I feel pretty good about what I’ve done in the last year. I posted about 2-3 times every month minus a few of them. I’d like to continue to expand my range of content and to keep up with adding every two weeks (eventually once a week!)

My last area of consistency is with my communication while living abroad. Often times I find myself to be lacking in this department. Between the 9 hour time difference, working a normal 40 hours a week, having a puppy, taking are of an apartment, and my relationship, it can be so easy to lose track. I really want to make sure that I’m taking the time to talk to those closest to me and to keep up with their lives and show them they’re important to me.

3. TRAVEL

Last year when I moved the only goal I had besides finding a job and learning Serbian was to make sure that I use the advantage of living in Europe to really travel around! I challenged myself to travel to at least 3 other countries and I did all of that in just 5 days. Seems a bit too easy to me… This year I’d like to visit at least 4 new countries. As of now we will be visiting Romania for sure and I think our summer vacation will be in Greece!
